THE ROYAL OBSERVATORY

Famous as the home of Greenwich Mean Time, all the time zones of the world are measured from this point. Today the 1675 Royal Observatory is a centre of excellence for modern astronomy.

See the world's first visual time signal, the Greenwich Time Ball, which drops daily at 1300, used by sailors to check their marine chronometers. Also visit the displays of the clocks invented by John Harrison to provide accurate navigation at sea.

Visit the National Maritime Museum with its array of artefacts, which tell the history of England 's proud naval heritage.

You cannot fail to miss another of Greenwich 's famous landmarks 'The Cutty Sark ' There was great kudos attached to bringing home the first tea of the season, and the 'Cutty Sark' was the fastest tea clipper on the water.
